Faculty of Education and Media Studies 2021 Intake
The Polytechnic, a Constituent College of the University of Malawi, is inviting applications for the following Postgraduate Programmes, which will commence in September, 2021.
1.Master of Technical and Vocational Education (MTVE)
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Education or its equivalent from a recognised university or institution. All applicants must have a minimum of a strong pass with an average of 55% -59% and above.
Tuition Fees: Successful applicants will be required to pay a tuition fee of Malawi Kwacha equivalent of US$4,500.00 for local and SADC students and US$6,000.00 for other international students for the duration of the programme. The programme is offered on a non-residential basis for both full-time (2 years) and part-time (4 years) options.
2.Master of Arts in Health and Behaviour Change Communication (MHBCC) -
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Environmental Health, Communication, Health Promotion, Health Education, Journalism, Media Studies, Humanities or any other related field with at least a strong pass with an average of 55% -59% and above and two years of work experience at graduate level in a relevant health field.
Tuition Fees: Successful applicants will be required to pay a tuition fee of Malawi Kwacha equivalent of US$5,500.00 for local and SADC students and US$7,000.00 for other international students for the duration of the programme.
3.Master of Arts in Media Studies (MMS)
Entry Requirements
Admission into the programme is based on the following criteria:
a) Applicants must have a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Credit or Distinction in Journalism, Media Studies, Mass Communication, Business Communication or any communication related discipline from a recognised university or institution.
b) Applicants with a strong pass of an average of 55%-59% are eligible provided they have at least two years of experience in journalism, media and communication.
c) Candidates with a first degree and at least a strong pass in a field other than those specified in (a) above must possess at least three years of experience in a media, journalism or communication related field.
Fees for the Programme
Successful applicants will be required to pay the Malawi Kwacha equivalent of US$5,500 for Malawian nationals and SADC students payable in two instalments. International students from countries outside the SADC region will pay US$6,500. Half of the fees must be paid during registration at the beginning of the first semester.
A complete Masters Programme application must include:
- A completed application form;
- a detailed Curriculum Vitae;
- 1 Academic Reference letter and 1 professional reference letter from employer
- A Certified Academic Transcript
- Certified copies of original certificates by commissioner of oath or Lawyer or the Central Office (University Office)
- A non-refundable application fee of MK10,000 for Malawian applicants and US$25.00 for international applicants;
