AGRICULTURE MACHINERY PRODUCTION PROJECT UNDER PSIP

PROCUREMENT REF. NO: MUBAS/AMPP/2024

 

  1. Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has secured funding from the Government of Malawi under Agriculture Machinery Production Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for a qualified supplier to consult, design, supply, install, and commission Foundry Plant layout, operations, equipment/machinery in Blantyre, Malawi, Central Africa. It is expected that invitations to bid will be made in October, 2024.
  2. MUBAS now invites sealed bids from interested eligible Bidders and from eligible Countries.
  3. Prequalification will be conducted in accordance with International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures contained in the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act No. 27, 2017 and its subsidiary legislation and is open to all eligible bidders.
  4. Need Description: MUBAS Agriculture Machinery Production Project (AMPP) embarked on designing and manufacturing agriculture machines. One of the enablers includes setting up a foundry as a sub-unit for the finishing process of the machining workshop. The foundry will supply secondary raw materials in the form of cast geometries for the machining workshop.
  5. Product Description: The project intends to create and produce innovative solutions for agricultural processes that require low to high precision casting of the following components: Transmission Housing, Machine base and frame, Simple and complex parts, Blanks for production of mounting blocks, gears, and shafts.
  6. Brief Foundry Plant Specifications: Induction Furnace, Raw Materials, Casting Type, and Foundry Sections.
  7. Conditions of Participation (Selection Criteria): All interested bidders should provide and conform to the following conditions:
  • Provide a detailed company profile, including years of operation in the foundry equipment and machinery industry.
  • Provide evidence of registrations by a registration body in the respective countries (i.e. business license and registration)
  • Demonstrate past experience and expertise in supplying similar equipment and machinery to foundries.
  • Provide reference of previous clients in the foundry industry (include virtual proof)
  • Provide evidence of compliance with international quality standards (i.e. ISO certification)
  • Detail the after-sales support, including maintenance, repair, availability of spare parts, and technical support.

8. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information, and inspect the prequalification document, from the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences, at the address below, during working hours 0900 to 1600 hours. A complete set of prequalification documents in English language, may be requested by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below. The document will be sent by email.

9. Applications for prequalification should be submitted in clearly marked envelopes “Expression of Interest Foundry Plant Establishment” and delivered in the Tender Box at the address below before or at 10 am Malawian time on 7th October 2024 and this shall also mark the opening time for Applications where participating firms or their appointed representatives shall be free to attend.

Late Applications shall be rejected.
