The Malawi University of Business and Applied (MUBAS) and Malawi Revenue Authority, (MRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will see the two institutions developing and offering a postgraduate certificate programme in Tax and Customs aimed at providing professional development for MRA staff. The MOU was signed on 7 August 2023 at Msonkho House.

The ripple effect of this investment will lead to the social-economic development of the country.

“This tailor-made program will also offer a chance to Clearing Agents and entrepreneurs to have in-depth knowledge and skills in taxation as the program will later on be open to the general public so that the nation has an appreciation of the field,” Chitera observed.

In his remarks, Bizwick expressed satisfaction with the partnership citing the programme`s potential to reduce training costs for MRA staff and improve the organisations` efficiency in taxation and customs. He also emphasized the potential for decreased corruption and improved public trust in matters of taxation.

The signing of this agreement marks a continuation of the working relationship between MUBAS and MRA, which has spanned five years. The new program is set to launch in 2024. MUBAS, which already offers a Bachelor's Degree in Taxation, is committed to developing more programs that meet the needs of the Malawi population and contribute to the country's overall growth.
