Design Studio Deputy Manager
Preamble
The Design Studio Deputy Manager (DSDM) will work with the MUBAS faculty to develop and implement undergraduate engineering design education. The DSDM will oversee the expansion and daily function of a prototyping facility engineering courses at MUBAS, as well as collaborate with faculty in the development of project-based learning courses. This person will be working closely with a technician and will work with the Manager to develop programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage Inventory
- Manage User Tracking Systems
- Train design studio members on high-level equipment
- Train Design Studio Student Assistants on equipment
- Support studio members with their projects
- Develop Design Studio programming
- Work on one primary project with the goal of implementing a pilot trial
- Perform regular maintenance on equipment as needed
- Support the Design Studio Technician(s) as needed
- Teach workshops in the design studio
- Work with faculty to develop programming for courses
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in electrical, biomedical, or mechanical engineering with extensive prototyping and engineering design experience. They should have at least two years of experience teaching or mentoring undergraduates in engineering and have significant device and instrumentation prototyping experience (specifically with technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, data acquisition equipment, and other electronics). The candidate should have design project experience and the ability to employ design skills and tools in creative ways appropriate for low-resource settings.
Duration
The successful candidates will be engaged for a six (6) month period which may be extended.
