Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Research Assistant tenable at MUBAS in Blantyre.  

 

Position Overview

The Research Assistant position is for the Chitetezo Research Project – an intergenerational project purposed to promote road safety among 10 primary schools in Blantyre, Malawi. The project is a collaboration between institutions of Higher Learning within and outside Malawi. The project in-country lead is Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS). 

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

a) To collect and analyse data using the specified data collection and analysis tools. 

b) Draft reports and articles and contribute to the dissemination of findings. 

c) Be responsible for the secure storage and management of the data gathered and transcribed, in accordance with the data protection policy of the University

d) Attend training on qualitative research methods to be used in the project (online or through other means stated)

e) Attend and take notes for all project meetings and provide minutes for the meeting within a reasonable and agreed time 

f) Liaise with the Key stakeholders (government, academia and others as required) to ensure smooth running of the set project activities 

g) Support peer facilitators in undertaking project activities in all designated schools

h) Use project equipment and store securely as per the University policy

 

Required Education Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

• A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Communication, Applied Arts, Development Communication or any other relevant degree

• Experience doing qualitative research

• Experience working with development stakeholders including government and local communities

• Fluent in English and Chichewa

• Excellent writing skills
